About the Alzheimer's Association

Your Gala Dollars At Work

Thank you for your generous support of the 2023 Charlotte Memory Gala. Your contributions helped us raise nearly $500,000 - our highest total to date since the Gala started in 2017!

One of the things that these contributions help us fund are research and advocacy efforts. You may have heard that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Advisory Committee unanimously endorsed the efficacy and clinical benefit of Leqembi. Leqembi was granted accelerated approval by the FDA in January 2023. The committee vote is a critical step in the process to gain traditional FDA approval which we expect by July 6. Even with FDA Advisory Committee confirmation, Leqembi and other approved treatments are not accessible due to current CMS coverage determinations. Until this drug is covered, 2000 individuals daily progress beyond the threshold of being eligible for this type of treatment. This simply must change.

So many of you commented on the impact of Pat Oram's story at the Gala - he is a leader in our fight for access. We wanted to share a Message From Pat from Charlotte Rally for Access earlier this mont

Every dollar you contribute enables us to further research, care and support and advocacy initiatives. Simply put, every dollar advances the fight against Alzheimer's.

Thank you again for your support; we hope to see you May 18, 2024 at the Charlotte Westin for next year's Memory Gala!
